Description

Day 1: Depart from Darwin at 6am for Kakadu National Park, with a wildlife cruise at Corroboree Billabong and a visit to Ubirr's Aboriginal paintings. Stay at a campsite, stopping at the Bowali visitor centre along the way. Day 2: Visit Yellow Waters wetlands home to over 280 bird species and the beautiful Gunlom Falls for a visit to a natural infinity pool. After lunch we will make a stop in Katherine before visiting Mataranka in Elsey National Park. We’ll stay in the National Park for our night of camping. Day 3: Swim in Bitter Springs or Mataranka Hot Springs, explore Roper Bar, Lomarieum Lagoon, and Nathan River Ranger Station in Limmen National Park. Camp in the National Park. Day 4: Swim at Butterfly Gorge, explore the Southern Lost City, and camp at Lorella Springs. Day 5: Explore Lorella Springs, visiting swimming holes, Aboriginal sites, and viewpoints around the station. Day 6: Travel to Borroloola, explore Echo Gorge, and camp near the Northern Territory / Queensland border. Day 7: Explore Hells Gates, Riversleigh fossil fields, and camp at Adel’s Grove for two nights. Day 8: Explore Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park, visit the upper gorge, Indarri Falls, and complete the Island Stack walk. Day 9: Visit Leichhardt Falls, Camp 119, and Normanton to see Krys Crocodile. Day 10: Travel to Georgetown, stopping at Cumberland’s Chimney, a remnant from the gold rush days, and a large waterhole for bird-watching. Visit the Ted Elliott Collection and explore the Undara Lava tubes with a local guide. Camp at Undara. Day 11: Visit Kalkani Crater for scenic views, then explore the tropical rainforest at Millaa Millaa Falls. Continue to Josephine Falls for a refreshing swim before arriving in Cairns around 3pm.
